Yellow Rose is a Texan whiskey brand from Houston, founded in 2010 by a group of whiskey enthusiasts led by Ryan Baird. A few years later, the company opened the first legal whiskey distillery within Houston’s city limits. Its name refers to the well-known legend of the Yellow Rose of Texas and reflects the brand’s strong local identity.

Houston’s warm and humid climate played an important role in maturation from the beginning. Considerable temperature changes create an intense interaction between whiskey and oak, while also causing a high level of evaporation. Yellow Rose became particularly known for Outlaw Bourbon, made from 100% Texas yellow corn and distilled in a traditional copper pot still. The range also developed to include rye whiskey, blended American whiskey and various local and limited releases.

Yellow Rose became part of the portfolio of Spanish family-owned Zamora Company in 2017. The Houston visitor location closed in 2024 and production was outsourced, while the brand and its whiskey range continued. Yellow Rose therefore represents a modern and distinctive side of Texas whiskey.
