The Benromach 22 years 2003 – 2025 Wu DRAM Clan Exclusive marks a historic milestone for the Forres distillery - its very first collaboration with an independent bottler. Originally planned as a single cask, the project evolved into a small batch of four carefully chosen casks, each reflecting a facet of Benromach’s character.

Two sherry casks delivered creamy, nutty and slightly mineral notes reminiscent of old-school Speyside whisky, while two bourbon casks contributed exotic fruit - mango, papaya and coconut - along with a touch of coastal smoke and salty depth, evoking an island-style influence. The decision not to choose, but to unite, resulted in a whisky of extraordinary depth and harmony: both classic and modern, bold yet refined. Highly recommended!

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich and inviting with layers of tropical fruit, roasted nuts, dark chocolate and gentle smoke. Hints of honey, citrus zest and mineral freshness add brightness and balance.

Palate

Silky and layered with sherried sweetness and bourbon vibrancy. Notes of walnut, hazelnut and caramel intertwine with mango, papaya and a touch of briny smoke. The structure is elegant yet full of energy, perfectly integrated.

Finish

Long and graceful with lingering fruit, nuts and refined smoke. A balance of sweetness, salt and subtle peat that remains beautifully poised.

Benromach Distillery

Benromach Distillery is located on the outskirts of Forres in the Speyside region of Scotland. Founded in 1898, the distillery has had an eventful history, with several closures and re-openings. In 1993, Benromach was revived by Gordon & MacPhail, a renowned independent bottler, and was completely refurbished before returning to production in 1998.

A unique feature of Benromach is its dedication to traditional production methods. The distillery uses water from the nearby Romach Hills, which contributes to the authentic flavour of their whiskies. Benromach whiskies are known for their light smokiness, a rarity in Speyside, with flavour profiles combining notes of fruit, chocolate, spice and a subtle smoke.

The whiskies are mainly matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, ensuring a rich and balanced flavour. The combination of traditional techniques, unique flavour and rich history makes Benromach a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
