Tasting note

Nose

The Orcadian is clearly stated on the label, so that is also the first association we catch from the glass, a fresh salty hint. But don't forget the lovely fruity character either. Peach, lime and a hint of pineapple just off the bbq. The label also says Peated Whisky Cask Finish, but you really have to look for the smoke. Perhaps the pleasant bitterness comes from the cask. We can't confirm this, but we do appreciate it.

Taste

Vanilla, creamy, coffee beans, the mouth is busy and all sorts of flavours are released. We also taste the apple and citrus of the aroma, but a bit rounder than in the nose. The spiciness and especially the slightly bitter coffee bean makes for a more than pleasant taste. Tasty drinker.

Finish

Mild and spicy. The cask will certainly have added some, but we wouldn't speak of really smoky. Scapa remains the mild distillery on Orkney.

Extra information

The name Glansa comes from Norwegian and means shining storm-laden skies. We wouldn't call this a real storm, more like a refreshing breeze on a sunny spring day.
