Rebel 100 Proof

Rebel bourbon has a long history dating back to 1849, when it was originally created by Stitzel-Weller Distillery, a distillery famous for its wheated bourbons such as Pappy Van Winkle. The name "Rebel Yell" was later introduced in 1936. In modern times, after several ownership changes, Rebel is produced by Lux Row Distillers, which has revamped the brand and reached a wider audience.

Tasting note

Nose

Rebel 100 opens with a pleasant, sweet nose in which vanilla and caramel dominate, followed by light notes of honey and a hint of butter biscuits. There are also subtle hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and a soft oak scent, which together create an inviting and balanced aroma.

Taste

On the tongue, Rebel 100 is rich and full-bodied. The sweetness of caramel and brown sugar emerges immediately, with layers of butterscotch and ripe fruit, such as apple and pear, underneath. The wheat in the mashbill creates a soft, creamy mouthfeel that balances well with the spicy notes of vanilla, cinnamon and a hint of pepper. The oak notes are present but not overwhelming, contributing to a harmonious taste experience.

Finish

The finish is medium to long, with a lingering sweetness and subtle spiciness. The warmth of the 100-proof alcohol emerges, but remains pleasant without being too sharp. The aftertaste ends with a slight oak bitterness and a hint of toffee, making for a satisfying finish.
