Nose

Zuidam Distillers is an independent Dutch family business based in Baarle-Nassau. Fred and Hélène van Zuidam began producing liqueurs and genevers professionally in 1976. What started with a single copper still developed into a versatile distillery, now led by the second generation: brothers Patrick and Gilbert van Zuidam.

Almost the entire production process takes place within the family distillery. Zuidam traditionally creates its own distillates and extracts without using artificial aromas, colours or flavours. Much of the barley and rye used for its whisky is grown by the company itself. Long fermentation and slow distillation in small copper stills help create a distinctly fruity and layered character.

Whisky enthusiasts know Zuidam primarily for Millstone. The first experimental whisky casks were filled in 1996, after which the brand developed into an important name in Dutch whisky. Zuidam also produces genever, Dutch Courage Gin, Flying Dutchman Rum, vodka and liqueurs. Its combination of family expertise, control from grain to glass and a distinctive house style gives Zuidam Distillers a special place in the international world of spirits.

Zuidam deliberately keeps much of the production process in house. Spirits and extracts are made within the family distillery from natural ingredients, without artificial flavours, colours or aromas. For whisky and genever, grain, extended fermentation, slow distillation in small copper stills and carefully controlled cask maturation all play important roles.

Alongside Zuidam Genever, the house produces Dutch Courage Gin, Flying Dutchman Rum, liqueurs, vodka and Millstone Whisky. The first experimental casks for Millstone were filled in 1996. This broad experience with distillation, botanicals, grain and oak gives Zuidam a distinctive identity in which Dutch tradition and continued curiosity naturally come together.
