Bombay Sapphire

Nose

Fresh and aromatic with clear juniper, lemon peel and a gentle floral note. Behind that come spicy coriander accents and a light earthy undertone.

Palate

Dry and elegant with juniper at the core, followed by citrus oils, coriander and gentle spice. The flavour stays bright and well balanced, with enough freshness to keep cocktails lively.

Finish

Medium length and refined with lingering citrus, juniper and subtle warming spice.

The Bombay Sapphire Distillery is located at Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire, England. The site has a history stretching back more than a thousand years and later developed into an important paper mill. For almost 250 years, high quality paper was produced here, including paper used for Bank of England banknotes. Laverstoke Mill therefore possessed a remarkable industrial heritage long before it became associated with Bombay Sapphire.

In 2014, the complex opened as the home of Bombay Sapphire. Its historic buildings were carefully restored and combined with modern architecture and sustainable technology by Heatherwick Studio. Particularly striking are the glasshouses that appear to grow out from one of the buildings across the River Test and showcase plants associated with the world of gin.

Inside the distillery, the historic 19th century Carterhead stills Tom and Mary operate alongside the larger copper stills Henry and Victoria. The characteristic vapour infusion method is used here, extracting aromas through alcohol vapour. Laverstoke Mill therefore brings together industrial heritage, modern architecture and traditional gin distillation in one remarkable location.
