French style
The French style originated in the countries belonging to the former French colonies. Haiti and Martinique. Here, molasses is not used, but sugarcane juice. Distillation takes place mainly in column distillation and there is strict regulation. If the rum, also called rhum, meets the guidelines then it may be marketed as Rhum Agricole. The style is considered fruity and drier than the other two styles.
