The Gauldrons – Douglas Laing Remarkable Regional Malts
The Gauldrons is the mysterious and maritime Blended Malt from Campbeltown in Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts range. Named after the storm-lashed bays (“bay of storms”) on Scotland’s west coast, where sea and mist collide, this whisky captures that spirit perfectly: salty, smoky and dark in character, but with a surprisingly warm soul. A dram that embodies both power and elegance – a tribute to Scotland’s smallest yet most characterful whisky region.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Sea salt, damp rope, light peat smoke and a touch of leather. Followed by notes of dark honey, black pepper, smoked malt and a hint of vanilla.
Palate
Full-bodied and spicy with flavours of caramel, soot, soft smoke and liquorice. A well-balanced mix of sweet and salty, with subtle roasted nuts and maritime undertones.
Finish
Long and layered with returning salinity, warming smoke, black tea and elegant oak spice.
