Longrow 18 years Vintage 1974
First distilled in 1973, Longrow is the peated single malt produced at the Springbank distillery.
Although Longrow is very popular, it remains an elusive whisky. Only 100-150 casks of it are filled at the distillery each year.
Tasting note
Nose
A salty sea breeze comes flying into your nose after which peat immediately follows. Smoked fish, hint of honey, but certainly also fruit aromas like peach, banana, pineapple. To complete the aroma, some nice vanilla notes as well.
Taste
Particularly fruity, oily, nice peaty character and subtle sweetness. Lovely tropical fruit character here too. The wood is present, but more in the background. Hint of saltiness to make it a true coastal whisky.
Finish
Medium-length with saltiness and smoke lingering longest on the palate.
