GlenDronach 25 years 1990 - 2015 Single Cask #1375

The founding of The GlenDronach distillery took place in 1826 in the town of Forgue near Huntly in the Highlands, Scotland. With almost 200 years of experience, The GlenDronach distillery is one of the oldest in the Highlands and a truly traditional distillery that still mainly uses maturation in sherry casks.

Since 2007, The GlenDronach has presented a series under the name: Single Cask Whiskies. Batch 12 was launched in September 2015.

True to their tradition, The GlenDronach mainly uses carefully selected sherry casks handcrafted at renowned sherry bodegas from southern Spain (Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda)

Origin and bottling

Distilled on 29 August of the year 1990 and finally bottled in August 2015 after a 25-year maturation. This Single Cask Whisky is the perfect example of craftsmanship from this renowned Highlands distillery.

After very careful selection, cask 1375 was selected and finally bottled at cask strength without colouring and filtering. This resulted in 656 bottles.

Cask type

This Single Cask Whisky has spent over two decades on a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon. This cask has allowed this GlenDronach to gain unparalleled depth and enormous complexity.

Appearance

Ruby edged rose wood

Nose

Gentle floral notes run through orange bitters, dark fruit syrup and rich espresso.

Palate

Dark prunes and dates dusted with vanilla sugar contrast with warming oak spices, developing to a rich, leathery vintage finish.
