Glen Keith 1968 - 2007 Connoisseurs Choice

This Glen Keith was distilled in 1968 and was bottled in the Connoisseurs Choice series by Gordon & MacPhail in 2007 after a maturation of almost 40 years in oak casks. This series has been around since the late 1970s and has changed labels regularly. Colloquially, this version is called 'old map label'.

Tasting note

Nose

Fresh herbs, beautiful olive oil, beeswax. All scents flow nicely into each other and with longer sniffing of the glass, citrus fruit scents and hints of vanilla from the glass also enter the nose.

Taste

Crème Brûlée, milk chocolate, again dried herbs, hints of leather and clear flavours coming from the wood. Powerful flavour with a nice full mouthfeel.

Finish

Very pleasant, long with notes of dried fruit, leather and again the wonderful wood tones.

Overall impression

Glen Keith with a cask ageing of almost 40 years and you can taste that back. The elegant character of this distillery comes out fantastically well in this Single Malt Whisky from Gordon & MacPhail.

More about Glen Keith Distillery

Glen Keith was built in 1958 by Canadian drinks giant Seagram. They did so because they needed malt whisky for their more than successful blended whiskies: Chivas Regal, 100 Pipers and Passport. Within the walls of this distillery, a lot of experimentation took place. Different types of grain, yeast were used, as well as playing with peat for drying the malt. For connoisseurs, the name Glenisla will be familiar as tarted Glen Keith. At the turn of the century, the doors were closed only to reopen in 2013.
