GlenAllachie 9 years Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish

Oloroso sherry is undoubtedly one of the most popular sherrys on which whisky is finished. It is a powerful Spanish wine, known for its deep mahogany colour and rich, full-bodied flavour.

This sherry is made from the palomino grape and undergoes a lengthy oxidation process, developing its characteristic notes of nuts, caramel and dried fruit.

Billy Walker used these hogshead sherry casks with the aim of creating a unique flavour profile. And he has succeeded; the whisky has acquired characteristics of coffee beans, sultanas and stem ginger. As a result, it has become a fascinating combination of two much-loved drinks.

Tasting note

Colour

Deep dark chestnut colour.

Nose

Honeycomb, mocha, dried apricots, cinnamon, red velvet cake and marzipan.

Taste

Dark chocolate, honey, butterscotch, dried red berries, ginger and poached apples.

Finish

Balanced finish with butterscotch, sugared fruit and red berries.
