Glenury-Royal 1976 - 1995 Connoisseurs Choice

Distilled in 1976, this Glenury-Royal was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 1995 in the Connoisseurs Choice series. This series has been around since the late 1970s and has changed labels regularly. Colloquially, this version is called 'old map label'.

Tasting note

Nose

The nose offers a complex bouquet of dried fruits, subtle notes of honey and a hint of oak, indicating excellent ageing.

Taste

On the tongue, the whisky reveals a rich flavour with layers of caramelised apples, malty sweetness, mixed with gentle spicy notes and a hint of sea air.

Finish

The finish is long and warm, with a lingering sweetness that turns into a dry, slightly smoky sensation, typical of the elegant balance that often characterises Highland whiskies.

More about Glenury-Royal distillery

Glenury-Royal is a distillery with a rich past, founded in 1825 by Captain Robert Barclay. The distillery experienced many years of production before it finally closed its doors in 1985. This makes every bottle from this distillery a rare and valuable collector's item.

The Glenury-Royal distillery has its origins in the picturesque Highlands region of Scotland, known for its pure water springs and rich tradition of distilling whisky. The town of Stonehaven, where Glenury-Royal was based, thus provided the perfect natural resources for the creation of their unique single malt whisky.
