Ardbeg 10 years

Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Ug-a-dal’) is named after the mystical Loch Uigeadail, the Ardbeg distillery's water source. This expression combines Ardbeg's signature powerful peat smoke with the deep, rich notes of sherry cask maturation. The result is a complex, layered whisky that is both intense and perfectly balanced. Uigeadail is a tribute to tradition, craftsmanship and the pure essence of Islay.

Tasting note

Nose

The nose is immediately seductive and intriguing: an explosion of peat smoke mixed with dark sherry notes of dried fruit, sultanas and figs. Underneath, layers of toffee, smoked ham and a hint of orange zest unfold, along with a subtle hint of black pepper and spices.

Taste

At the first sip, you discover the true magic of Uigeadail. It starts with the distinctive Ardbeg turf smoke, powerful and intense, but a rich sweetness of dark chocolate, caramel and honey follows almost immediately. The influence of the sherry casks adds beautiful layers of dried fruit and spicy cinnamon. A hint of roasted coffee beans and a briny, almost maritime touch add depth.

Finish

The finish is long and warming, with a nice balance between sweet and smoky notes that gently fade away.

Ardbeg Distillery

Ardbeg Distillery is located on the south coast of the island of Islay, famous for its rich whisky tradition. Founded in 1815 by the MacDougall family, Ardbeg has a turbulent history with several closures and re-openings, but has become one of the most highly regarded Islay distilleries.
