Tasting note

Nose

Marzipan, hazelnut and almond cream are the first names mentioned. Alongside these sultry and creamy scents, fresh notes of sour cherries and gooseberries also emerge from the glass.

Taste

Toasted nuts, hints of cinnamon, cloves, butterscotch, toffee and sultanas. Mocha and coffee are also mentioned along with some cocoa and hazelnut.

Finish

Long and complex where the nuttiness lingers the longest on the tongue.

Bunnahabhain has launched an exclusive whisky; Bunnahabhain 12 year old Cask Strength 2023 Edition. This expression is nicknamed: Sherried, Nutty, Unpeated. As the name suggests, the whisky entered the bottle at cask strength.

Julieann Fernandez hand-selected the casks for this Bunnahabhain whisky. Her choices were first and second fill Oloroso and bourbon casks. The contents of these two casks were blended by Fernandez to arrive at the 12-year-old whisky, a result the master blender is proud of: "I'm really proud of this year's 12-year-old cask strength release. It's even bigger and bolder than its predecessors, with an ABV of 60.1%, and embodies everything Bunnahabhain is known for: unripened, sherried and full of intense flavour, with big its of roasted nuts and cinnamon spices in every dram."
