Bladnoch Distillery
Bladnoch Distillery is located on the banks of the River Bladnoch in Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway, in the Scottish Lowlands. Founded in 1817 by brothers John and Thomas McClelland, Bladnoch is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. After several ownership changes and a period of closure in the late 20th century, the distillery was revived in 2015 by Australian entrepreneur David Prior.
A hallmark of Bladnoch is its small-scale, artisanal production, using traditional methods. The distillery has two pot stills and produces a limited amount of whisky, which contributes to the exclusivity and quality of their products. Bladnoch whiskies are known for their smooth and floral flavour profile, often with notes of honey, citrus and light spices. The distillery uses a combination of American bourbon casks and European sherry casks for maturation, ensuring a rich and versatile taste experience.
