Lochlea Our Barley

Lochlea Distillery, located in the heart of Ayrshire, is an independent distillery that takes pride in its Scottish roots. The distillery grows its own barley, uses pure spring water, and controls every aspect of production, resulting in an authentic and artisanal single malt. Lochlea Our Barley is a well-balanced expression, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, STR (shaved, toasted & re-charred), and Oloroso sherry casks, creating a rich and layered character.

Tasting note

Nose

Fresh green apple and ripe peach lead the aroma, followed by a sweet hint of honey and vanilla. Subtle notes of toasted almonds and a touch of cinnamon add depth.

Taste

Smooth and creamy with flavors of ripe pear, malty sweetness, and hints of toffee. Spicy accents of nutmeg and white pepper give the whisky a pleasant complexity.

Finish

Long and warming, with lingering notes of honey, light oak influences, and a delicate spiciness that gradually fades.

Lochlea Distillery

Lochlea Distillery is located in Scotland's picturesque Lowlands, in South Ayrshire, near the town of Tarbolton. Established in 2018, the distillery is located on a historic farm where the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns once worked.

A specific feature of Lochlea Distillery is the use of barley grown on its own farm, ensuring complete control over the quality of the raw materials. The distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and a carefully controlled production process to create a premium single malt whisky.

Lochlea whisky is known for its light and fruity character, with notes of apple, pear and a subtle spiciness. Maturation takes place in a combination of bourbon, sherry and wine casks, adding to the complexity and depth of flavour profiles.
