Ardmore 12 years 2012 - 2024 100 Proof Edition #21
Ardmore 12 years 2012 - 2024 100 Proof Edition #21 is a bold and smoky Highland single malt, bottled by Signatory Vintage at a solid 57.1% ABV (100 Proof). This whisky has been matured in 2nd fill bourbon barrels that previously held Islay whisky, creating a unique combination of sweet vanilla notes and smoky, maritime influences. Ardmore is known for its subtle, elegant peat smoke, and this expression enhances that profile with extra depth and complexity. A perfect choice for those who enjoy a well-balanced smoky dram.
Tasting Notes
Nose
A beautiful balance between smoke and sweetness with aromas of roasted malt, campfire smoke, and honey. Light notes of lemon zest, vanilla, and soft spices add extra complexity to the nose.
Taste
Full-bodied and powerful, with flavors of peat smoke, toffee, and ripe apple. The influence of the bourbon barrels brings a creamy sweetness, while subtle salty and medicinal notes from the Islay influence linger in the background.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering notes of peat, roasted nuts, and a hint of sea salt. The combination of smoke and vanilla lingers elegantly, making each sip memorable.
Ardmore Distillery
Ardmore Distillery is located in the Eastern Highlands of Scotland, near the village of Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire. Founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, son of whisky pioneer William Teacher, Ardmore has a rich history of whisky production. The distillery was originally built to support the growing demand for Teachers Highland Cream blended whisky.
A unique feature of Ardmore is its use of traditionally peated barley, resulting in a smoky single malt, a rarity in the Highland region. This gives Ardmore whiskies a distinct and robust flavour profile with notes of smoke, honey, vanilla and spices. The distillery gets its water from natural springs in the surrounding hills, which contributes to the purity of their whiskies.
Ardmore whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which provides a nice balance between sweetness and smokiness. Besides their peated expressions, Ardmore also produces unpeated whiskies that show a lighter, fruitier side.
The combination of a beautiful location, historical traditions and unique flavour profiles makes Ardmore a respected name in the world of Scotch single malt whisky.
Signatory Vintage
Signatory Vintage is one of the most respected and recognised independent bottlers in the whisky world. The company was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and is based in Pitlochry, Scotland. Signatory Vintage is known for its impressive collection of single malt and single grain whiskies sourced from various Scottish distilleries.
In 2002 Andrew Symington acquired Edradour Distillery, one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland. This has enabled Signatory Vintage to offer exclusive bottlings of Edradour whiskies alongside their regular independent bottlings.
