Convalmore Distillery
Convalmore Distillery is located in Dufftown, one of the most prominent whisky regions in Speyside. Founded in 1893, Convalmore has a rich history of whisky production that unfortunately ended in 1985. The distillery had several owners and upgrades, including the addition of a Coffey still in 1909, which was later removed to revert to traditional pot stills.
A unique feature of Convalmore was the use of pure water from the nearby Conval Hills, which contributed to the clarity and purity of their whiskies. Convalmore whiskies were known for their complex and rich flavour profiles, with notes of fruit, honey and a subtle spiciness. The distillery mainly used ex-bourbon casks for maturation, which ensured a balanced and deep flavour.
Although the distillery has long since closed, the remaining bottles remain highly sought after by aficionados, collectors and investors due to their rarity and exceptional quality. Convalmore remains a respected part of Scotch whisky history, remembered for the unique and high-quality single malts it produced. The former distillery buildings are a lasting reminder of Convalmore's rich tradition and history.
