Glen Grant 1950 75cl
Distilled over 70 years ago and probably bottled in the late 1980s. The capacity measure is 75cl and Gordon & MacPhail switched from 75cl to 70cl bottles in 1991. So this Glen Grant 1950 was aged for around 40 years in mainly old sherry casks, as there were few bourbon casks available in the 1950s.
Tasting note
Nose
Very complex nose, furniture polish, oak, leather, overripe fruit.
Taste
Full, spicy, heavy, oily/greasy mouthfeel, full wood aromas. Dark fruit.
Finish
Long and full oily. What an experience.
Glen Grant Distillery
Glen Grant Distillery is located in Rothes, in the heart of Scotland's Speyside region. Founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, the distillery has a long and rich history. Known for its innovative approach, Glen Grant became one of the first distilleries to use electric lighting in 1872.
A unique feature of Glen Grant is the use of water from the nearby Caperdonich spring, which contributes to the purity of their products. Glen Grant whiskies are known for their elegant, fruity and floral aromas, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla and a subtle hint of spiciness.
The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a refined and balanced flavour. Glen Grant is recognised worldwide for its consistency and quality. The combination of a rich history, innovative techniques and high-quality whiskies makes Glen Grant a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
