Tasting note
Nose
An initial impression of intense oakiness like stepping into an old dunnage warehouse with woody whisky vapours hanging in the air. The substantial oak notes are lifted by sheer vitality - uncommon in a Malt Whisky of this age.
Running as a deft counterpoint to the oak there are luscious sherry notes, these mingle with both spicy and classic Glenfiddich fruity notes to whet the appertite. All in all a finely balanced nose.
Taste
It is definitely oaky and dries the top of the mouth in a pleasantly intriguing way, massaging the tongue while it lingers for a considerable time.
The Scotch whisky does not attack - it slowly moves over the tongue and seduces - its vibrancy subtle emphasised by shifting sweet sherry notes.
Finish
An exceedingly long finish from this elegant Speysider. The dry oaky notes sweeten as the taste lenghtens into a floral honeyed warmth - a delight.
Comments
This Single Malt is a refined pleasure from start to finish best enjoyed in the later watched of the night.
It is a Single Malt with which to spoil yourself and appreciative friends. Expect some companionable silences as that complex nose is inhaled and savoured or the final fading notes of that honeyed finish are enjoyed.

Glenfiddich Distillery
Glenfiddich Distillery is located in Dufftown, in Scotland's iconic Speyside region. Founded in 1887 by William Grant, Glenfiddich is one of the few distilleries that has remained in family ownership since its inception. The distillery is located on the banks of the River Fiddich, whose name means "Valley of the Deer", symbolising its rich natural environment.
A unique feature of Glenfiddich is the use of spring water from the Robbie Dhu springs, which contributes to the purity and character of their whiskies. Glenfiddich is known for its innovative approach and was one of the first distilleries to export their single malt whisky worldwide.
Glenfiddich whiskies are known for their elegant and accessible flavour profiles, with notes of pear, apple and honey. The whiskies are matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, creating a rich and complex flavour. The combination of a beautiful location, innovative techniques and high-quality production makes Glenfiddich a global leader in the single malt whisky industry.
