Kininvie 17 years 1996 - 2014 Batch No.1 35cl

Founded in 1990, the Kininvie distillery is an unknown single malt whisky to many. The first bottling was released in 2006 under the name Hazelwood. The founder and owner of the distillery is William Grant & Sons. Kininvie is therefore the little sister to big brothers Glenfiddich and Balvenie, and production largely disappears into the blended whisky Grants and blended malt whisky Monkey Shoulder. A single malt from Kininvie Distillery, especially of this age, can be called rare. This 17 year old Kininvie is a Travel Exclusive bottling.

Pineapple and mango on the palate, accompanied by linseed oil, ginger, and developing nuttiness.

Kininvie Distillery

Kininvie Distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland, in the grounds of Balvenie Distillery near Dufftown. Founded in 1990 by William Grant & Sons, Kininvie is one of the younger distilleries in the region, but has quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality single malt whiskies. The distillery was designed to increase William Grant & Sons' production capacity.

A unique feature of Kininvie is that it consists only of a so-called still house where distilling takes place. The rest of the production process happens within the walls of the Balvenie distillery. Kininvie uses water from the Conval Hills, which contributes to the purity and freshness of their whiskies. Kininvie whiskies are known for their light, fruity and floral flavour profiles, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla and a subtle hint of spice. The whiskies are mainly matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, ensuring a balanced and complex flavour.

Kininvie produces mainly for blends such as Clan MacGregor and the blended malt Monkey Shoulder, but their own single malts are also highly regarded. The combination of a picturesque location, modern production techniques and a strong focus on quality makes Kininvie a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
