Hinch Craft & Casks Imperial Stout Cask Finish

Hinch Distillery, based in the heart of Northern Ireland, is known for its unique and experimental maturation methods. With the Craft & Casks series, they masterfully combine the world of whiskey and beer. The Hinch Craft & Casks Imperial Stout Cask Finish received its final maturation in casks that previously contained a rich and robust Imperial Stout, is sourced from Whitewater Brewery, Castlewellan, Co.Down. This gives the whiskey extra depth, complex malty notes and a subtle influence of dark roasted grains and chocolate. A perfect choice for lovers of both whiskey and beer.

Tasting note

Nose

A rich and inviting aroma where roasted malt, dark chocolate, and freshly brewed espresso take center stage. Subtle notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted hazelnuts complement the deep, stout-influenced character, creating a full and layered bouquet.

Taste

Full and creamy, with a beautiful balance between sweet and bitter. Dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt intertwine with hints of honey and dried fruit. A light touch of oak and black pepper adds complexity, while the stout character remains delicately woven into the whiskey.

Finish

Long and warming, with lingering notes of cocoa, burnt coffee beans, and a hint of roasted nuts. A slightly bitter touch of dark beer lingers on the palate, while the sweet malt and vanilla slowly fade.

Hinch Distillery

Hinch Distillery is located in the picturesque surroundings of Ballynahinch, in County Down, Northern Ireland. Established in 2016, this distillery has quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality, artisanal Irish whiskeys. Its location on the edge of the Mourne Mountains provides a beautiful backdrop and access to pure spring water, essential to their production process.

A unique feature of Hinch Distillery is the use of both traditional and modern distillation techniques. They employ double and triple distillation depending on the type of whiskey they produce, resulting in a range of flavour profiles. The whiskeys are matured in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon, sherry and new oak casks, creating rich and layered flavours.

Hinch whiskeys are known for their smooth, refined character with notes of vanilla, honey, dried fruit and subtle spices.

The combination of an idyllic location, varied distilling methods and a strong commitment to quality makes Hinch Distillery a respected name in the world of Irish whiskey.
