Hibiki is Suntory’s prestigious blended whisky brand, introduced in 1989 to celebrate the Japanese drinks company’s ninetieth anniversary. Its name means ‘resonance’ or ‘harmony’ and expresses the philosophy behind the brand: bringing together different whiskies, ages and cask types to create a refined and balanced composition.

For Hibiki, Suntory’s blenders select malt whisky from Yamazaki and Hakushu and grain whisky from Chita. These distilleries work with a wide variety of stills, yeasts and casks, including American oak, sherry casks and Japanese mizunara oak. This extensive inventory gives the blenders the freedom to build Hibiki’s characteristic elegant, fruity and layered house style.

Over the years, the brand has included various age-stated whiskies, Hibiki Japanese Harmony and exclusive limited editions. Its bottle design is equally recognisable: the twenty-four facets represent the traditional Japanese division of the seasons. Through its combination of blending, craftsmanship and Japanese aesthetics, Hibiki has become one of Japan’s best-known blended whisky brands.

Suntory, one of Japan's oldest and most prestigious whisky producers, was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. He opened Japan's first commercial whisky distillery, Yamazaki, located on the outskirts of Kyoto. This location, with its pure water sources and ideal climate, was carefully chosen for its perfect conditions for whisky production.

Suntory later expanded with the Hakushu Distillery, located in the southern Japanese Alps, known for its fresh and light whiskies, influenced by the region's mountainous climate and pure spring water. Suntory's whiskies, such as the Yamazaki and Hakushu single malts, also as the iconic Hibiki blend are known worldwide for their refined and complex flavour profiles.
