Bernard-Massard Cuvée 1921

Bernard-Massard Cuvée 1921 is an elegant sparkling wine from Luxembourg, made according to the méthode traditionnelle, which involves a second fermentation in the bottle, similar to the method used for champagne. A tribute to the founding year of the Bernard-Massard winery, this cuvée embodies a classic style that exudes both finesse and complexity. The wine is made from carefully selected grapes, such as Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay, sourced from the best vineyards in Luxembourg.

On the nose, the Cuvée 1921 offers a refined blend of ripe apple, peach and subtle floral aromas, with hints of toasted almonds and brioche. On the palette, you taste a lively mousse and refreshing acidity, in harmony with flavours of citrus, green apple and a slight minerality. The finish is elegant and fresh, with lingering notes of fruit and a hint of toasted bread. Bernard-Massard Cuvée 1921 is a refined choice for lovers of sparkling wines who appreciate elegance and balance.

Bernard-Massard

House Bernard-Massard is one of Luxembourg's leading producers of still and sparkling wines. The house is known for its high-quality sparkling wines, made with respect for tradition, and excellent value for money. For example, the house's flagship Cuvée de l'Ecusson was named "Best sparkling wine" by Decanter in 2017.

Located near Grevenmacher, the winery owns several domaines and vineyards in the Moselle region. This area lies on the slopes of the Moselle, on the natural border between Luxembourg and Germany, stretching 42 km between Wasserbillig and Schengen. This wine region is one of the northernmost wine regions in Europe, but benefits from a mild microclimate, influenced by the river and due to its south-western exposure.

The house was founded in 1921 by winemaker Jean Bernard. At a young age, Jean left for the Champagne region to learn the intricacies of the trade and worked at several champagne houses in Reims and Epernay. For love, the Luxembourger returned to his native region and married Anne Massard. This is where the name of the winery derives from.

With all the knowledge gained, Jean Bernard wanted to put Luxembourg sparkling wines on the map. Together with Bernard Clasen, who shared not only the same passion but also vineyards, he founded Bernard-Massard. Sadly, Jean Bernard died at a young age, but the Clasen family made his dream come true.

Today, Antoine Clasen, the fifth generation of the Clasen family, is at the helm and Bernard-Massard has become one of Luxembourg's leading wine producers. With respect for traditions, but certainly innovations and respect for nature, the house produces wines of very high quality.
