Producer

Château La Coustarelle is a leading estate in Cahors, known for its modern interpretation of Malbec. By working in a terroir-driven way and combining precision winemaking with respect for tradition, the château produces wines that unite power, elegance, and purity.

Château La Coustarelle

Château La Coustarelle is a family-owned estate from Cahors in south-western France. Its history began in 1870, when the Cassot family settled in the region and combined farming with winegrowing. In 1947, the third generation gave the estate the name Château La Coustarelle. The winery is now continued by the fifth generation. This long family history has given the château an extensive understanding of its vineyards and of the character of Malbec within Cahors.

The estate comprises approximately 53 hectares of vineyards on the elevated terraces alongside the River Lot. The vines grow on varied soils containing clay, limestone, gravel, flint and ancient river deposits. Malbec forms the foundation of the wines and is complemented by other regional varieties in selected cuvées. Château La Coustarelle combines traditional vineyard work with precise modern vinification. Its range extends from approachable Cahors to powerful selections with considerable ageing potential, always placing the dark fruit, structure and distinctive character of Malbec at the centre.
