Bernardus Winery is a wine producer from Carmel Valley in California, United States. It was founded in 1989 by Dutch entrepreneur and former racing driver Ben Pon. During his extensive travels, he developed a fascination with fine wine and the ambition to establish an estate of his own in California. He selected Carmel Valley, where warm, sunny days are followed by cool nights and refreshing air from the Pacific Ocean.

The winery owns vineyards in Carmel Valley and also maintains long-standing relationships with selected growers throughout Monterey County. This provides Bernardus with access to a variety of landscapes and climatic conditions within the region. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected during several passes throughout the season, allowing each vineyard to be picked at the right moment. Bernardus combines its Dutch origins with the relaxed character and possibilities of California, giving the winery a distinctive place within the Monterey wine landscape.
