François Peyrot Lot 61 Héritage
François Peyrot Lot 61 Héritage is one for unhurried moments. This isn’t a “fresh” Cognac, but a mature, layered style where time has done the work: concentrated fruit, gentle rancio, nutty depth and those classic cellar tones you only find in older lots. “Lot 61” is a batch designation that often points to the harvest year, and you can taste that in the grown up balance between fruit, spice and an elegant, slowly drying structure.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Deep and refined with dried apricot, fig and candied orange peel. Behind that: beeswax, polished wood and a soft tobacco note. With time, nuts, a hint of cocoa and a clear rancio character emerge, think old cellar, leather and a small spicy edge.
Palate
Silky and layered with marmalade, stewed fruits and honeyed roundness. Then it turns more serious with nutty tones, a touch of dark chocolate and a lightly tea like bitterness that keeps the sweeter notes in check. The structure feels mature and precise, with fine tension between richness and dry finesse.
Finish
Long and gently drying with lingering dried fruit, nuts and soft spice. Rancio stays present for a long time, alongside a bittersweet citrus note and a warm, elegant finale.
François Peyrot
Maison François Peyrot is a family house known for an elegant, fruit led signature and an artisanal approach, using maturation to build finesse and layering rather than sheer wood impact. Lot 61 is a strong calling card for that philosophy: an old vintage Cognac raised patiently, keeping the fruit core intact while allowing rancio to develop naturally over time. It also shows what François Peyrot does best: not an overdone oak showcase, but controlled maturity, balance and a classic, terroir driven profile that keeps unfolding in the glass.
