Description

François Peyrot XO is a 25-year-old Grande Champagne Cognac made exclusively from Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the family estate’s own vineyards and bottled at 40%. Extended maturation in French oak brings together mature fruit and floral finesse with cocoa, coffee, tobacco and elegant rancio.

Tasting note
Nose

Deep and refined, with dried apricot, figs and candied orange peel. Vanilla, violets and roses are followed by walnuts, cocoa and subtle notes of tobacco and mature oak.

Palate

Rounded, silky and layered, with raisins, orange peel and ripe stone fruit. Coffee, cocoa and light tobacco mingle with vanilla, toasted nuts and gentle spices, while developed rancio adds further depth.

Finish

Long and harmonious, with dried fruit, coffee and cocoa. Gentle spices, walnuts and refined rancio linger elegantly.

François Peyrot

The history of François Peyrot began in 1893, when Jean-Baptiste Peyrot established himself as a winegrower in Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the Cognac region. A decisive step followed in 1956, when Jean and Mathilde Peyrot began distilling and producing cognac on their seven-hectare vineyard estate. Initially, most of their eaux-de-vie were sold to merchant houses in the region. In 1970, their son François and his wife Gisèle decided to bottle cognac under their own name. The first bottle of Cognac François Peyrot, a VSOP, was released in July 1971.

François Peyrot is a genuine family estate that grows its own grapes and distils the resulting wine before allowing the eaux-de-vie to mature in French oak. Its cognacs come entirely from Grande Champagne, an area renowned for refined, floral eaux-de-vie with excellent ageing potential. The range extends from VSOP and XO to old cognacs displaying dried fruit, flowers, spice and rancio. The house has also become known for liqueurs based on Grande Champagne cognac, including its distinctive Poire au Cognac made with Williams pears. François Peyrot therefore combines traditional craftsmanship with a remarkably fruit-forward speciality.
