Description

François Peyrot Napoléon is an 18-year-old Grande Champagne Cognac made exclusively from Ugni Blanc and bottled at 40%. This Vieille Réserve forms an elegant bridge between VSOP and XO, combining mature fruit, gently toasted oak, chocolate and vanilla.

Tasting note
Nose

Rounded and refined, with dried apricot, peach and candied orange peel. Honey and vanilla mingle with almonds, walnuts and a subtle touch of toasted oak.

Palate

Full and smooth, with stewed stone fruit, orange marmalade and rich notes of chocolate and vanilla. Cinnamon, nutmeg and delicate oak add depth, while a light citrus note maintains an elegant balance.

Finish

Long and warming, with dried fruit, nuts and gentle spices. Vanilla, cocoa and restrained tannins linger with refinement.

François Peyrot

The history of François Peyrot began in 1893, when Jean-Baptiste Peyrot established himself as a winegrower in Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the Cognac region. A decisive step followed in 1956, when Jean and Mathilde Peyrot began distilling and producing cognac on their seven-hectare vineyard estate. Initially, most of their eaux-de-vie were sold to merchant houses in the region. In 1970, their son François and his wife Gisèle decided to bottle cognac under their own name. The first bottle of Cognac François Peyrot, a VSOP, was released in July 1971.

François Peyrot is a genuine family estate that grows its own grapes and distils the resulting wine before allowing the eaux-de-vie to mature in French oak. Its cognacs come entirely from Grande Champagne, an area renowned for refined, floral eaux-de-vie with excellent ageing potential. The range extends from VSOP and XO to old cognacs displaying dried fruit, flowers, spice and rancio. The house has also become known for liqueurs based on Grande Champagne cognac, including its distinctive Poire au Cognac made with Williams pears. François Peyrot therefore combines traditional craftsmanship with a remarkably fruit-forward speciality.
