The Winter Queen:
Elizabeth Stuart was born in Falkland Palace in Fife in 1596, the eldest daughter of King James VI of Scotland. After a brief reign as Queen of Bohemia, Elizabeth spent most of her life in The Hague. In the face of war and exile, her shrewd diplomacy, tenacity and humour saw her political and cultural influence extend across Europe.
A unique fusion of Scotch whisky from Longmorn and Glenrothes distilleries and malt whisky from Zuidam Distillery in the Netherlands, The Winter Queen is a majestic tribute to a remarkable Scot.
Content:
1 American oak ex-Bourbon barrel distilled at Longmorn, Speyside; part of an ex-Sherry butt distilled at Glenrothes, Speyside; and 2 ex-Sherry casks distilled at Zuidam at Zuidam Distillery, Baarle Nassau, The Netherlands.
Tasting Note:
Appearance: Chestnut, brooding
Aroma: Initially nose drying, with chocolate and desiccated coconut. Scotch pancakes with bacon, coated in maple syrup. Polished floorboards, manilla envelopes and dark toffee.
Taste: Crème caramel, maraschino cherries, rhubarb crumble and molasses; roast meat jus in the development.
Finish: Soft, creamy mouthfeel, with all the hallmarks of a good Sunday lunch including the rowan and quince jelly.
