Tamdhu 8 years 2016 - 2024
Tamdhu is known for its deep and rich sherry character, and this 8-year-old expression from independent bottler Hart Brothers is no exception. Matured in a first fill sherry butt, this whisky offers a powerful combination of sweetness, spiciness and fruity notes. Despite its young age, this Tamdhu has impressive depth and balance, perfect for lovers of sherry maturation.
Tasting note
Nose
Intense and seductive with aromas of sultanas, dried figs and cherries. Warm notes of cloves and cinnamon are complemented by hints of dark chocolate and toasted nuts.
Taste
Rich and full-bodied with notes of dark fruit, caramel and a subtle hint of espresso. The sherry influences are prominent, with sweet notes of honey and burnt sugar, in harmony with spicy touches of nutmeg and black pepper.
Finish
Long and warming with lingering notes of dried fruit, cocoa and oak. A subtle spicy touch lingers, providing a pleasant balance between sweetness and spiciness.
Tamdhu Distillery
Tamdhu Distillery is located on the banks of the River Spey in the Speyside region of Scotland, near the village of Knockando. Founded in 1897 by a group of blenders led by William Grant, Tamdhu has a rich history of producing high-quality whiskies. The distillery was strategically placed because of its proximity to the river, which provides water for the production process.
Tamdhu mainly uses ex-sherry casks to mature their whiskies. This gives Tamdhu whiskies their characteristic rich and full flavour profiles, with notes of dried fruits, nuts, spices, vanilla and a hint of chocolate.
Tamdhu is also known for its commitment to craftsmanship and quality, as evidenced by their careful selection of casks. The combination of a beautiful location, maturation in mainly ex-sherry casks and dedication to quality makes Tamdhu a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
