Deceivingly lighter than other "agricole" rums, this rum from the Isle of Madeira seems initially quite soft and well-behaved, but it soon drops the mask to reveal itself as flavourfull and robust as is expected from a rum made from whole sugarcane.

Sweet but very vegetal, with the richness of raisins and dates matched by the herbal notes and even a salty hint from the sea, it grows in strength and peppery character until the very intense finale.

A great introduction to the world of more complex rums.
