Nose

Boomsma is a Dutch family distillery from Leeuwarden, founded in 1883 by Dirk Boomsma. At the foot of the Oldehove tower, he established a distillery and spirits business producing, among other things, genever, Beerenburger and liqueurs. The fifth generation now continues the family business, while its Frisian origins remain an important part of the identity of the house.

Genever has been at the heart of Boomsma from the beginning. The range includes several styles, from young grain genever to old and cask matured expressions. The family combines traditional recipes with modern production techniques. Since 2015, Boomsma has once again operated its own copper pot stills, allowing the complete distillation process to be carried out in house.

Alongside classic genever, Boomsma experiments with maturation in different types of wood and previously used casks, including bourbon, port and wine barrels. Beerenburger, gin, liqueurs and whisky also form part of the portfolio. Boomsma therefore combines more than a century of Frisian distilling tradition with a curious approach to cask maturation and modern spirits.
