Licor 43

Licor 43 is a Spanish liqueur from Cartagena in the Murcia region. The brand was founded in 1946 by Diego Zamora together with his brother Ángel, his sister Josefina and her husband Emilio Restoy. The family initially bottled the liqueur themselves, laying the foundations for what would later become Zamora Company. According to the house, its inspiration comes from Liqvor Mirabilis, an aromatic elixir said to have been made in Cartagena in ancient times.

The name Licor 43 refers to the 43 ingredients used in the secret family recipe. Mediterranean citrus fruits and selected botanicals are known to play an important role. Ingredients are macerated separately or in groups, carefully blended and then rested in stainless steel tanks for six to nine months. The entire production process takes place in Cartagena.

From its Spanish origins, Licor 43 developed into an international liqueur brand. Its combination of citrus, botanicals and vanilla-like notes makes it highly versatile in cocktails and coffee drinks. The Carajillo 43, combining Licor 43 with espresso, has become particularly closely associated with the brand.
