Mom's Homemade Strawberry Limoncello

Nose

Fresh and fruity with lemon peel and lemon oil up front, followed by ripe strawberry and a light floral accent. Behind that: gentle sweetness making it very inviting.

Palate

Juicy and smooth with a clear lemon-led arrival, then strawberry joins as a rounded fruity layer. Sweetness is comfortable but not sticky, with a tart lift keeping it bright and refreshing.

Finish

Medium length and refreshing with lingering lemon, strawberry and a soft fruity fade.

Zuidam Distillers is an independent Dutch family distillery based in Baarle-Nassau. The company was founded in 1976 by Fred and Hélène van Zuidam, who began producing artisanal liqueurs and genever. The second generation, brothers Patrick and Gilbert van Zuidam, now leads the family business, which has developed into one of the most versatile distilleries in the Netherlands.

Zuidam deliberately keeps much of the production process in house. Spirits and extracts are made within the family distillery from natural ingredients, without artificial flavours, colours or aromas. For whisky and genever, grain, extended fermentation, slow distillation in small copper stills and carefully controlled cask maturation all play important roles.

Alongside Zuidam Genever, the house produces Dutch Courage Gin, Flying Dutchman Rum, liqueurs, vodka and Millstone Whisky. The first experimental casks for Millstone were filled in 1996. This broad experience with distillation, botanicals, grain and oak gives Zuidam a distinctive identity in which Dutch tradition and continued curiosity naturally come together.
