Czar Peter is a Dutch vodka brand whose name and identity are inspired by Tsar Peter the Great. In 1697, the Russian ruler travelled to the Dutch Republic under the name Peter Mikhailov to acquire knowledge in fields including shipbuilding. He stayed briefly in Zaandam before working for several months at a shipyard in Amsterdam. The years 1672 and 1725 on the bottle refer to his birth and death. Czar Peter therefore presents itself clearly as a Dutch vodka with historical Russian inspiration, rather than as a brand produced in Russia.

Czar Peter forms part of the portfolio of Hooghoudt, the family distillery founded in Groningen by Hero Jan and Grietje Hooghoudt in 1888. The vodka is made in the Netherlands from water and grain spirit. A careful filtration process, said by the brand to include quartz and silver, creates a clean and approachable profile. Czar Peter is known for its pure, neutral style, with subtle grain notes, a smooth texture and a fresh finish accompanied by gentle peppery warmth. It can be enjoyed neat and well chilled, but is particularly useful as a versatile base for cocktails and long drinks.
