North of Scotland 50 years
This is the first and only official bottling from the North of Scotland distillery, Alloa. This is a Scotch grain whisky aged for more than 50 years in six bourbon casks. The distillery is located in the north of Scotland and began producing whisky in 1957. This bottling shows the extraordinary elegance that can be found in a subtle, well-matured grain whisky - which was always the aim of the distillery's founder, George Christie.
Tasting note
Nose
Pecan, biscuit with aromas of nectarine and raspberry. Classic grain notes - toffee, maple syrup, baked apple - with a touch of grated cinnamon to spice things up. Rich notes of cream caramel, blood orange and glazed red fruit.
Taste
A sensation of cream, becoming more and more liqueur-like with time. Aromas of custard, five spices - nutmeg and cinnamon - add sweetness. Hints of tarragon and oregano are combined with blood oranges and toasted hazelnuts.
Finish
Long and sweet. Toasted almonds and walnuts, melting vanilla toffee fade slowly and lead directly to the next sip.
