GlenDronach 19 years 1995 - 2014 Single Cask #3326 UK Exclusive
The founding of The GlenDronach distillery took place in 1826 in the town of Forgue near Huntly in the Highlands, Scotland. With almost 200 years of experience, The GlenDronach distillery is one of the oldest in the Highlands and a truly traditional distillery that still mainly uses maturation in sherry casks.
True to their tradition, The GlenDronach primarily uses carefully selected sherry casks handcrafted at renowned sherry bodegas from southern Spain (Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda)
Origin and bottling
Each year, our Master Distiler, Billy Walker, specially selects a handful of individual casks from GlenDronach Distillery's warehouses to be bottled as GlenDronach 'Limited Release'.
With maturing whiskies dating back to 1968, there is a huge selection of casks, hogsheads, puncheons and butts to choose from. Each of these casks displays truly remarkable characteristics, the malt whisky contained within having developed exceptionally during the long maturation process.
Distilled on 23 June of the year 1995 and finally bottled especially for the UK in July 2014 after a 19-year maturation. Billy Walker personally selected cask 3326 and 661 bottles were eventually bottled.
Cask type
This Single Cask Whisky has spent 19 years on an Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon. This cask has allowed this GlenDronach to gain unparalleled depth and enormous complexity.
Tasting note according to GlenDronach
Appearance
Deep amber gold
Nose
Soft, well-rounded oak spices combine perfectly with rich plum juice and dates. Hints of citrus and cedar wood add a crisp contrast to the initial soft nose.
Palate
Lashing of dark fruit syrup and a dark chocolate depth are warmed by cracked black pepper and touched of orange bitters. The long finish explodes with traditional sherry characteristics.
