GlenDronach 24 years 1991 - 2016 Single Cask #2683

The founding of The GlenDronach distillery took place in 1826 in the town of Forgue near Huntly in the Highlands, Scotland. With almost 200 years of experience, The GlenDronach distillery is one of the oldest in the Highlands and a truly traditional distillery that still mainly uses maturation in sherry casks.

Since 2007, The GlenDronach has presented a series under the name: Single Cask whiskies. Batch 14 was launched in October 2016.

True to their tradition, The GlenDronach primarily uses carefully selected sherry casks hand-crafted at renowned sherry bodegas from southern Spain (Jerez de la Frontera and Sanlúcar de Barrameda) 

Origin and bottling

Distilled on 29 November of the year 1991 and finally bottled in September 2016 after a 24-year maturation. This Single Cask Whisky is the perfect example of craftsmanship from this renowned Highlands distillery.

After very careful selection, cask 2683 was selected and finally bottled at cask strength without colouring and filtering. This resulted in 456 bottles.

Cask type

This Single Cask Whisky has spent over two decades on an Oloroso Sherry Butt. This cask has allowed this GlenDronach to gain unparalleled depth and enormous complexity.

Appearance

Rich antique gold.

Nose

Vibrant oak spice and a rich nutty character infused with caramelised plums. Intriguing waves of wild honey add a gentle, sweet contrast.

Palate

Cracked black pepper and intense flavours of treacle-covered ripe autumn fruits. Mint and toasted nuts add to the long, vibrant finish.
