The independent bottler Adelphi Distillery Limited
The independent bottler Adelphi Distillery Limited
Adelphi stands for selecting the very best whiskies. The criteria on which Adelphi selects the casks are rarity and maturity, but above all taste. Adelphi is always very critical, accepting only 4% of what is offered. Because of this, whiskies marketed under the Adelphi label are necessarily above average in quality.
Each individual cask of whisky matures very differently and imparts its own character to the whisky. As a result, no two Adelphi's will ever be the same.
Adelphi bottles directly from the cask, without coloring or chill-filtering. This allows the whisky to retain its true and unadulterated flavor until it enters the glass. Each bottling is limited to 100 to 700 bottles, depending on the size of the cask. Selecting only the very best casks allows Adelphi to offer a wide selection of styles and regions thanks to their panel of professional "noses. The chairman of this panel is Charles MacLean, world-renowned Scotch whisky connoisseur and Master of the Quaich.
Adelphi Distillery Limited
Adelphi Distillery Limited is an independent bottler of mainly Scotch Single Malt whiskies, known for its high quality and limited editions. Besides Scotch whisky, they sometimes make forays into other whisky countries, but rum and armagnac can also be found in Adelphi Distillery Limited's portfolio. The company has a rich history dating back to the 19th century and is today a respected name in the whisky world.
History and Origins
- Establishment: The original Adelphi Distillery was founded in 1826 in the Gorbals, a district in Glasgow, Scotland. The distillery produced a wide range of whiskies, both single malts and grain whiskies.
- Closure and revival: The original distillery closed in the early 20th century. In the 1990s, the Adelphi name was revived by Jamie Walker, a descendant of the original owners. Since then, Adelphi has focused on bottling high-quality, rare spirits.
