Glenmorangie 14 years The Quinta Ruban
Tasting note
Nose
The first thing that stands out and pleases us is the smell of dark chocolate with a hint of fresh mint. Also nice citrus fruit and of course the red fruit coming from the port barrels. A nice full aroma that gets more and more powerful the longer the glass stands. In the beginning we were talking about chocolate with mint, now we even have a red pepper and Turkish delight.
Taste
Glenmorangie's base is smooth like butter and exceptionally pure. It is therefore a very mild encounter when we take a sip from our glass. Sultry, mild and very elegant, yet we call it exciting. Every sip something different happens. First we mention chocolate mousse and biscuits, later almonds and toasted nuts are also mentioned along with sultanas and fig bread.
Finish
A rich finish of stewed fruit and dark chocolate.
More information
Glenmorangie 14 years Quinta Ruban first ages for 10 years in Ex-Bourbon casks. It then matures further in traditional port casks shipped directly to Scotland from Portugal. So we're talking about a Single Malt Whisky with double maturation, because we wouldn't call a 4-year finish a finish anymore.

Glenmorangie Distillery
Glenmorangie Distillery is located in Tain, Ross-shire, on the east coast of the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1843 by William Matheson, Glenmorangie has a long and rich history in whisky production. The distillery is located near the Dornoch Firth, which provides a unique source of pure water, essential to the production process.
A specific feature of Glenmorangie is the use of the tallest copper pot stills in Scotland, which are over five metres high. These stills produce an exceptionally pure and delicate spirit. Glenmorangie is known for its innovative approach to barrel maturation, using a wide range of cask types including ex-bourbon, sherry and wine casks. This results in complex and rich flavour profiles.
Glenmorangie whiskies are loved for their smooth and fruity character, with notes of vanilla, honey, and citrus. The distillery remains a pioneer in the whisky world, with a strong focus on quality and craftsmanship, keeping Glenmorangie one of the most respected names in the world of single malt whisky.
