Tasting note
Nose
The nose opens with a fresh and lively bouquet: notes of green apple, pear and lemon dominate, while soft hints of honey, vanilla and a hint of heather play in the background. A subtle touch of toasted almonds and marzipan gives the fragrance an elegant depth.
Taste
At the first sip, you immediately taste Arran's bright character. Juicy notes of ripe apple and citrus are combined with a slight sweetness of honey and vanilla. As the whisky develops, hints of cinnamon, ginger and a hint of chocolate emerge, giving the palette a subtle spiciness. The texture is silky smooth and deliciously drinkable.
Finish
The finish is fresh and slightly dry, with lingering fruitiness and a soft, nutty tone.
Arran Distillery
Arran Distillery is located in Lochranza, on the picturesque island of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. Founded in 1995 by Harold Currie, a former director of Chivas Brothers, the distillery was the first legal distillery on the island in over 150 years.
A specific feature of Arran Distillery is the purity of its whisky, thanks to the use of water from the nearby Loch na Davie, one of the purest water sources in Scotland. The distillery produces a wide range of single malt whiskies, known for their fruity and creamy character, with notes of apple, pear and vanilla.
Arran uses traditional production methods, including copper pot stills and a slow distillation process, which contributes to the quality and complexity of the whisky. In addition, the whiskies are matured in various cask types, such as bourbon, sherry and wine casks, creating rich and varied flavour profiles. The distillery has built a reputation for craftsmanship and innovation, and remains a favourite destination for whisky lovers worldwide.
