Glen Grant 23 years 1998 - 2021 for Sansibar Whisky 10th Anniversary

Especially for Sansibar Whisky's 10th anniversary, the Whisky Agency has released a single cask. They chose a 23-year-old Glen Grant that underwent maturation on a sherry butt. Finally bottled at cask strength and a real powerhouse that is perfectly balanced.

Tasting note

Nose

Red fruit is the first thing that stands out. Braised red fruit with nice bitter aromas. Marmalade of yellow fruits like peach and nectarine. Nice sweet/sour balance.

Taste

Full-bodied with the wood aroma evident. The sherry cask has done its best. Here also the marmalade, but more red apple and stewing pear. Even a small hint of smoke. Each sip makes this whisky more palatable, revealing a little more each time.

Finish

Medium-long with the powerful wood character lingering the longest. Some nutty notes here too.

More about Glen Grant Distillery

Glen Grant is a well-respected Scottish distillery based in Rothes in the Speyside region, famous for its single malt Scotch whisky. The distillery's history dates back to 1840, when brothers John and James Grant founded the distillery. The location was chosen because of the abundant supply of pure spring water from the nearby river and the accessibility of barley from Speyside's fertile fields.

Over the years, Glen Grant is known for its innovations in the distilling process, including the introduction of purifiers by James 'The Major' Grant in the late 19th century, which contributed to the unique, clean and fresh taste of their whisky.

Today, Glen Grant remains a prominent name in the whisky industry, known for its light, fruity and refined flavours characteristic of Speyside single malts. Their products regularly win awards and the distillery attracts visitors from all over the world, who come to experience the history and production process and to taste the unique nature of their whisky.
