Glen Grant 23 years 1997 - 2020 Fazzino
Acclaimed pop artist Charles Fazzino created the label for this Glen Grant and it has become a true work of art. The contents of the bottle are also a work of art, but distilled by Glen Grant and selected by Sansibar, the acclaimed independent bottler from Germany.
Tasting note
Nose
Patience is rewarded, as at first the aroma is still very subdued. If you leave the glass alone for a while, you will see that it develops quickly. After five minutes, we did get a little impatient, but the whisky was already a lot more open. Tropical fruit, kunquat, pear, almonds, small hint of aniseed and nice wood aromas fill the nose.
Taste
Mildly sweet is the first thing that comes to mind. Bitter sweet as we know from rhubarb, hint of gooseberry provides a nice sweet/sour balance. Lots of spice, lots of yellow fruit and here the wood comes out nicely. The mouth is well filled with delicious flavours.
Finish
Heather honey and wood is what we are left with on the palate.
Glen Grant Distillery
Glen Grant Distillery is located in Rothes, in the heart of Scotland's Speyside region. Founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, the distillery has a long and rich history. Known for its innovative approach, Glen Grant became one of the first distilleries to use electric lighting in 1872.
A unique feature of Glen Grant is the use of water from the nearby Caperdonich spring, which contributes to the purity of their products. Glen Grant whiskies are known for their elegant, fruity and floral aromas, with notes of apple, pear, vanilla and a subtle hint of spiciness.
The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon casks, which ensures a refined and balanced flavour. Glen Grant is recognised worldwide for its consistency and quality. The combination of a rich history, innovative techniques and high-quality whiskies makes Glen Grant a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
