Glen Moray 2007 - 2024 #5764 for Friends of BBR The Netherlands
Passion for Whisky belongs to the "Friends of Berry Brothers & Rudd The Netherlands". At the invitation of the Dutch importer, we travelled to London in February 2024 and there, at No.3 St. James's Street, selected this single cask bottling which is available very limited from now on.
Tasting note
Nose
On the nose, ripe peaches and a hint of apricot bloom are gracefully entwined with subtle vanilla and a whisper of floral Viognier elegance.
Taste
The palate tells a tale of two worlds, where crisp green apples meet the spicy warmth of cinnamon and a touch of white pepper.
Finish
The finish unfolds with sweet citrus and gentle oak, leaving a lingering echo of fresh summer orchards and the exotic aromas of distant spice bazaars.
Glen Moray Distillery
Glen Moray Distillery is located on the banks of the River Lossie in Elgin, in the Speyside region of Scotland. Founded in 1897, Glen Moray has a rich history of more than a century in producing high-quality single malt whiskies. The distillery is located on the site of a former brewery, which adds to its historic charm.
A unique feature of Glen Moray is the use of water from the River Lossie, which contributes to the character of their whiskies. Glen Moray whiskies are known for their elegant, smooth and accessible flavour profiles, with notes of vanilla, fruit and light spiciness. The distillery often experiments with different cask types for maturation, notably including ex-bourbon, sherry and wine casks, making for a rich and diverse taste experience.
The combination of an idyllic location, innovative maturation techniques and a dedication to craftsmanship makes Glen Moray a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
Berry Bros & Rudd
Berry Bros. & Rudd is one of the oldest and most respected independent bottlers in the world. The company was founded in 1698 and is headquartered in St James's Street, London. The family business originally began as a coffee merchant, but soon expanded into the wine and spirits trade. Today, Berry Bros. & Rudd is known for its high-quality whiskies, as well as a wide range of wines and other spirits.
History
Founded in 1698 by the widow Bourne, Berry Bros. & Rudd began as a shop selling coffee, tea and spices. Soon the shop became a meeting place for London's elite, and the company expanded into selling wine and spirits. Over the years, Berry Bros. & Rudd has built strong ties with the British royal family. The company is a court supplier and has received several royal warrants throughout its long history.
