Knockando 1977 - 1990 100cl
Please note: The bottle and packaging were launched over 30 years ago. This has resulted in the bottle and packaging not being in perfect condition. The label and packaging have obvious signs of use. The filling level has also suffered a bit. The photos clearly show the condition of the bottle and packaging.
This Knockando 1977 - 1990 is a classic example of the elegance and complexity that characterise Speyside whiskies. The 13-year maturation in oak casks helped develop deep, rich flavours that make this whisky an excellent choice for connoisseurs and casual whisky lovers alike.
Tasting note
Nose
Upon opening the bottle and pouring the whisky, aromas of ripe apples, pears and a hint of citrus peel unfold. Subtle hints of honey, vanilla and a slight nutty undertone are also present, along with a soft floral scent reminiscent of flowering heather.
Taste
On the palate, this whisky offers a rich and full flavour experience. Fruity notes of apple and pear dominate, with underlying hints of sultanas and dried apricots. There is a distinct presence of honey sweetness, complemented by a touch of spiciness from cinnamon and nutmeg. The texture is silky and soft, contributing to a very pleasant drinking experience.
Finish
The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of fruit and a subtle hint of oak. A slight hint of chocolate and almonds lingers, giving a nice conclusion to the complex flavour layers of this whisky.
Knockando Distillery
Knockando Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region, on the banks of the River Spey in the village of Knockando, Moray. Founded in 1898 by John Thomson, the distillery has a rich history and is known for producing elegant and refined single malt whiskies. The name "Knockando" comes from the Gaelic "Cnoc an Dhu," meaning "little black hill".
A unique feature of Knockando is the use of water from the Cardnach springs, which contribute to the purity and delicate character of their whiskies. Knockando whiskies are known for their light, fruity and floral flavour profiles, with notes of almond, apple, pear and a hint of vanilla. The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, ensuring a balanced and complex flavour.
The combination of a beautiful location, traditional methods and high-quality production makes Knockando a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
