Tasting Notes
Nose
Soft aromas of apple blossom, dried apricots, and honey. In the background, light spice from cinnamon, a touch of nuts, and subtle oak.
Palate
Rounded and harmonious with notes of stewed fruit, malt biscuits, and vanilla. The sherry cask adds layers of raisins, almond, and a hint of orange peel.
Finish
Long and silky with lingering notes of dried fruit, gentle spices, and a creamy nutty aftertaste.
Knockando Distillery
Knockando Distillery is located in the heart of the Speyside region, on the banks of the River Spey in the village of Knockando, Moray. Founded in 1898 by John Thomson, the distillery has a rich history and is known for producing elegant and refined single malt whiskies. The name "Knockando" comes from the Gaelic "Cnoc an Dhu," meaning "little black hill".
A unique feature of Knockando is the use of water from the Cardnach springs, which contribute to the purity and delicate character of their whiskies. Knockando whiskies are known for their light, fruity and floral flavour profiles, with notes of almond, apple, pear and a hint of vanilla. The whiskies are mainly matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, ensuring a balanced and complex flavour.
The combination of a beautiful location, traditional methods and high-quality production makes Knockando a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
