Longmorn 25 Years 1994 – 2020 #DL13921 – Douglas Laing Old Particular
This Longmorn from Speyside has matured for a full quarter of a century into a true flavour masterpiece. Distilled in 1994 and bottled in 2020 by Douglas Laing for their Old Particular series, this whisky was aged in a refill hogshead and bottled at a bold 60.4%. Only 242 bottles were yielded from the cask, making this a powerful yet rare expression. Expect a graceful balance of ripe fruit, soft spices and the gentle touch of seasoned wood – a Speyside classic at its peak.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Ripe stone fruits like apricot and peach, vanilla, light beeswax and a touch of almond. Behind that: hints of honey, oak and a delicate floral note.
Palate
Full and intense with flavours of baked apple, vanilla fudge, malt biscuits and a touch of white pepper. The high ABV brings power, but the creamy texture and warm wood tones keep it in balance.
Finish
Long and refined with lingering notes of vanilla, soft spice, dried peach and a gently drying oakiness.
Longmorn Distillery
Longmorn Distillery is located in the Speyside region, south of Elgin in Moray. Founded in 1894 by John Duff, Longmorn has a rich history and is known for its consistent production of high-quality whiskies. The distillery is located in a picturesque part of Speyside.
A unique feature of Longmorn is the use of traditional copper pot stills, which contribute to the rich and full flavour profiles of their whiskies. The distillery draws its water from the nearby Bardon Burn, which provides a pure and clear base for their whisky. Longmorn whiskies are known for their fruity and spicy flavour profiles, with notes of apple, pear, honey and a hint of spiciness.
The whiskies are mainly matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, which ensures a balanced and complex flavour. Longmorn produces single malts as well as whiskies used in blends, such as Chivas Regal. The combination of an idyllic location, traditional techniques and high-quality production makes Longmorn a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
