Speyburn 2004 - 2017 #214 Single Cask for Shinanoya
Bottled exclusively for Shinanoya, Tokyo, the liquid is dark copper in apperance. The sweet yet spicy character of the whisky can be detected on the nose and palate resulting from the time spent maturing in a first fill Spanish oak butt.
On the nose there are aromas of citrus fruits, sweet cherries, dark chocolate and honey. All wrapped nicely together with a hint of tobacco.
The flavour is bursting with rich fruits and sweet spices followed by notes of hazelnuts, vanilla and raisins. The long-lasting finish is full-bodied, fruity and creamy with a slight spiciness.
Speyburn Distillery
Speyburn Distillery is located in the beautiful Speyside region, near the town of Rothes in Moray. Founded in 1897 by John Hopkins, the distillery was designed by renowned distillery architect Charles Doig. Speyburn's location, in a valley surrounded by woods and the Granty Burn, a tributary of the River Spey, provides a natural source of pure water, which is essential for whisky production.
Speyburn whiskies are known for their light, fresh and fruity character, with notes of apple, pear, citrus and a subtle hint of honey and spices.
Speyburn mainly uses ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks for maturation, which ensures a balanced and complex flavour. The combination of an idyllic location, traditional techniques and commitment to quality makes Speyburn a respected name in the world of Scotch whisky.
